From Austin City Limits (2010) Steve Martin & the Steep Canyon Rangers perform his original a capella "gospel" tune for the non-believers among us.

I think Martin is great and loved that tune. But I am glad I passed up his appearance at the 92nd Street YMHA in NYC the other night.  It was a "disaster". The Y apologized and offered fifty dollar credits to attendees.

What a classless thing to do. Yes, the Y should apologize, but to Steve Martin, not to the audience.

Scott, when you are able, I'd like to hear your opinion on the "not news" section.

First I wrote a relevent piece here about Martin - his memoir and his career

second yeah i heard the y thing - i thought this piece summed it up well but really how bad do you have to be as an interviewer to bore an audience that has steve martin to entertain them? i wonder if martin placed any limits on topics to talk about.
