Is gaming good for the mind?

I'm not sure if I believe but I, to quote the x-files, I want to believe.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I'm not sure if I believe but I, to quote the x-files, I want to believe. Sure makes me feel better about my addictions to tetris and, currently, chain rxn. (facebook link)

Of course it's good for you. How do you think I got so smart? Long Halo sessions at 3 in the morning haven't hurt, certainly.

    Of course.

It teaches time management. When you've been playing Rock Band instead of doing things, you learn how to get things done under pressure, in a little amount of time. Usually on the way to the presentation or class, or what have you.

Also it teaches you how to be good at multitasking, right? Discussed that on Raat's classic multitasking seed

I think it can be good exercise for certain reflex and action based parts of the brain. As far as teaching you real life skills.... maybe not so much.
