I spotted this sign on a bus in Jamaica - it's hard to read so I'll translate: children are our future - please don't hit them. Or something like that.
Sounds more effective than "watch out for pedestrians," eh?

Can you spot me in this photo? It is from1978

Everywhere we turn lately even the most innocuous discussions turn into politics discussions And I'm sure my last two satire articles haven't helped (thus making me part of the problem.)

So today I am going to try something different. Actually I'm going to try three different things but only two of them are related to this.

Today I'm going to vow not to seed any politics discussions on the logic that we already have way more than enough of those. I'll probably post instead more fun seeds (crazy criminals) on the logic we can use more stuff right now that can make us laugh and smile and less divisive stuff.

Anyone want to join me on that vow? I might extend it later in the week too.

Second I'm going to limit my total seeding this week to five seeds every 12 hours. If you see me breaking either of those vows you have my permission to give me a virtual wedgie.

Third, this article.
Ok, heres' the concept:
This is a politics-free discussion. If you talk about politics (be it who you want to win, why liberals are communists, why conservatives are fascist, etc. I'll ask you to stop and if you persist I'll delete them for being off topic.

instead tell us about your weekend or week (provided you are not actually going to tell us about spending the week campaigning for Obama)

Or tell us about a random act of kindness...

Or a great joke you heard.

Incidentally I'll tonite I'll post my journal/slide show about my cruise which will also be politics-free (with the exception of me wearing an Obama shirt in a photo)

Hi Scott,

Everywhere we turn lately even the most innocuous discussions turn into politics discussions And I'm sure my last two satire articles haven't helped (thus making me part of the problem.)

I am new here and I am glad you posted this idea. My political pastiche was portrayed through Lassie, Rin-Tin-Tin, Felix, Toad, King Kong, et al. I joined in late August and without politics to write about nobody came to read what I wrote. So, I felt left out. 

Today I'm going to vow not to seed any politics discussions on the logic that we already have way more than enough of those. I'll probably post instead more fun seeds (crazy criminals) on the logic we can use more stuff right now that can make us laugh and smile and less divisive stuff.

I think I will join you in that vow. I agree there is a lot to talk about besides corruption and that word.

Anyone want to join me on that vow? I might extend it later in the week too.

Why not longer? It will be a 'fait a compli' after the election and just so much hot air until they get down to business!

Second I'm going to limit my total seeding this week to five seeds every 12 hours. If you see me breaking either of those vows you have my permission to give me a virtual wedgie.

Being new, I am finding a good balance between writing articles and seeding to be difficult. The good, apolitical stuff, has just begun to be read and discussed.

instead tell us about your weekend or week (provided you are not actually going to tell us about spending the week campaigning for Obama)

I might get booooed writing about such things, but I'll try.

Or tell us about a random act of kindness... Or a great joke you heard.

Since, I am feeling like I am in nether, nether land, who is us in this one instance?

Great.

Why not longer? It will be a ‘fait a compli’ after the election and just so much hot air until they get down to business!

Because I want to reserve the right to both moderate a live discussion of the debate Thursday nite and write a satire article of it Friday

While I think there's an excess of political stories that doesn't mean I'm going to gag myself WHEN new news happens (i.e. the debate, just that i'm tired, for example, of 800 stories a day analyzing old news or political prognosticators talking out of their butt.

might get booooed writing about such things, but I’ll try.

We won't boo you. And you can always write memoir pieces or fictionpieces

Love the pics Scoop. You're such a @!$%#en goober. hehehehe! Now I don't think it's fair that we give you a virtual wedgie. You won't feel the pain. I reckon that you have to fly to the person who owes you that wedgie and give it to you personally. Sounds good enough for me. Well I think you know from my article that I spent the weekend down at Southbank. But I also sadly watched my local team Brisbane Broncos get knocked out of the finals. So I'm pretty pissed off about that. I'm gonna drown my sorrows down The Plough Inn this weeked. Gotta catch up with a few friends. After a couple of hours in the sun naturally. I'll tell you about it Monday.

    1. Well, this weekend I went to a really interesting party.  The local chapter of Phi Alpha Theta had a get together at someone's house.  Everyone there was either a grad student or a professor and everyone was smarter than me!   Oh well.  After about 30 minutes of awkward discussion about history and whatnot everyone grabbed a beer and it started to feel like a real college party.  I'm not sure I fit in but I'm going to try.
    2. I dyed my hair this weekend (see profile photo)
    3. I heard a pretty funny joke:  What's the difference between The Rolling Stones and a Scotsman?  The Rolling Stones say "Hey, you, get off my cloud!"  The Scotsman says, "Hey McCleod, get off my ewe!"

Oh I hate that. Why do you think I'm more shy offline - cause it's harder to fake intelligence? Well, among other reasons.

    Off to check your photo.

    Good joke.

My favorite simple joke is this (it's also my intelligence test):

I was introduced to the famous old test-paper files. After more drinks than I can recall, I selected a C paper on Gulliver's Travels, as that was the one due the coming week.

Mind you, I simply used the paper as an outline and wrote my thoughts. To my surprise I get my first paper back from an absolutely arrogant professor without a mark on it. He writes at the bottom of it: "Plagiarism is reason for dismissal from this institution. and are you a native of this country?" After class I went and protested; but to no avail. We had 12 people in my class, dumb-bell English, at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.

Flunked the class. The only passing grade I got all semester was in poetry, and I didn't have the first clue. Sutcliff gave me a C. At semester end the Dean called me in and wanted an explanation for my failure. I reported a conflict with the professor. They put me on academic probation.

Professors these days have the ability to electronically search for plagiarism. You got caught. Plagiarism is stealing (or in this instance, willful purchase of stolen goods).

You have to write your own papers, not buy them. How else are you going to learn?

If you're in college, consider it an opportunity. It's up to you to make best use of it. If you get yourself kicked out of this school, you likely won't ever get to go again.

Good luck to you. Write your own papers.

I have a bunch of friends who became English teachers - they tell great stories about plagiarism. My favorite was a woman who wrote a so so essay and he gave her a d. A year later her brother turned in the same story. As if he wouldn't notice. And no the grade did not improve.

I was barred from drinking while on the trip since I was technically working 24-7 and even if I'd wanted to all expenses went on a company paid credit card and i had to show receipt for all expenses.

And that leads to the "international incident" story....

      Ok, so the international incident?

We had to bring back receipts for everything. And when you're talking $700 total I wanted

to get it just right. So when we ordered drinks in Jamaica and they didn't return with change

for ten minutes and, when I asked, me now acting very uncool (demanding mellow Jamaicans

be, essentially, less mellow), was told "we're finding the change on the street." I'm thinking,

"you have to leave your business (it was a hotel/resort with a shore) to get change? What

the heck? Anyway we got the change but  we were not leaving without buying genuine

tie-dyed Jamaicans shirts with phrases like "Jamaican me crazy"

      This is what then transpired:

The gift shop is closed. We go to the front desk to get the shop opened. We go to pay in the

store. The lady in the store scribbles a receipt/bill of sale and tells us to go to the front desk to pay for it and bring back the receipt. By this point others are boarding the bus. The bus that takes us back to the ship. The bus which, if we miss, leaves us literally stuck in Jamaica.

I'm starting to sweat. At the front desk the lady takes our money and I am by now in scurry

mode (having advanced from casual Jamaican moving mode). The lady gives us our bags and then takes the receipt and sends us on our way.

      Wait, something doesn't compute!

I tell her I need receipts. Oh, for receipts, you go to the front desk. But what about that, you

know, receipt-type thing you just took? That's not a reciept, she tells me.

Ok, so back to the front desk. My guy is now waving for me to get on the bus and I'm waving

at him to stall the bus.

Front desk lady: What can I do for you?

      me: I need a receipt.

lady: You get that from the store.

me (losing patience): No. I came from the store and she said to go to you.

lady: let me call her because..

I cut her off, quite rudely, thinking how long will that phone call take

me: She took the receipt you had -

      lady: that wasn't a receipt

me: ok, fine, can I get a receipt.

lady: Let me find a receipt book?

me (thinking): That doesn't sound good.

my partner in crime's waving is now so frantic I imagine him lifting off the ground

another employee comes to the front desk and the two greet like old friends and I'm thinking,

"sorry to be a pest but, you ever hear that customer is always right' thing or is that just an

      American thing'?

At one point the lady takes what  I presume was the receipt she was writing and rips it in half. It hits me like a body blow.

I am now thinking, "I give up. It's only $20." I turn to skidaddle exit stage left when a new voice compliments me on my shirt (of Obama) "We like Obama," he says.

I essentially say, "You know what Obama supporters should do for each other? Write receipts."

He smiles and whispers something to the lady who then asks me to give my name, address,

price of purchase, all information that was on the credit card receipt for my own purchase but I think if I remind her of this it might - if possible - slow things down even more not to mention the fact.. well, you get the picture.

They move into a higher gear and hand me a slip of paper which says something like

Scottki - $20 and I think they took 20 minutes for 3 pieces of into of which they mangled two

(my first and last name.) Sigh.

Then we book for the bus. And just as I'm about to apologize for delaying the bus that we're

missing both mom and dad aka the driver and the bus guide. They take their time and don't show up for another ten minutes.

And why the delay? Because as they say "there are no problems here - just situation" and I,

now resuming breathing, am thinking "Well, I guess I just had a potentially international situation."

      The end

      Rorschach test? Cool. I'm in.

That figure strikes me as being a tortured terrycloth version of a rubber chicken, only with a very phallic appendage.

      BTW, today is my birthday!

I'm not sure what those strange towels look like. Their attitude is manacing and I'd hate to meet them in a dark linen closet.

The towels look like the Michelin man after someone has taken a pin to him and deflated him...

Or maybe Keith Richards after a night of hard partying - all wrung out and hung up to dry.

      Take your pick.

The special needs guy I was there supporting as staff's first reaction was "hey they put socks in our room"

the second day it was "you put that in the bathroom, ok?

the third day it was "they look like frogs. Let's keep them over our beds" (which is where they were

and on the fourth day I moved them myelf because I feared towell nightmares.

On the last day they we saw a parade of sort of the employees and a few of them were holding these towells so some quick calculation suggested one person responsible for 1,000 towell animals a day.

I had a pretty nice weekend also, I invited some work colleagues over for a good dinner of burgers and smashed potatoes. I have been trying to convince them for some time now that the burgers in the few restaurants in town that claim to be "American Style" are horribly misrepresenting this grand pillar of our culture.

I think the evening turned out well and I was able to enlighten them all to the appeal of the true American Burger, large, juicy, charred outside and pink inside. Next week I think I will try to explain the American appeal of baseball over soccer.

Smashed potatoes are made with the skin on (not peeled first) they are also chunky because they are done by hand as opposed to mashed which some people use a mixer to make which makes them like puree.

My personal recipe is with a bit of Mayo, butter, milk, garlic, scallions, salt and pepper. This weekend I added some fresh parmesan cheese also and a little EXTRA black pepper and called it "cracked peppercorn and parmesan smashed potatoes".... really really good and not so difficult if you want to try.

Tonight I am going to try to grill (in my oven...) some tuna steaks with mustard seed, soy sauce, rice vinegar, olive oil, black pepper, white pepper, chili pepper and salt. this should be good, I just wish i could do it on a proper coal grill.

I would not mind having a food section here on newsvine, I think I could contribute quite a bit to that.

I was really happy this weekend because I watched the Caps/Bruins game on TV. I know it was only a preseason game, but it means hockey season is very close. Now if I could just find the money to afford Center Ice on Directv this year.

It's enough and could spark a good sub-thread: What are you happy or sad about right now?

I'm happy I had a good cruise ship (though I didn't relax as much as I would have had it not been a working vacation - more on that in the piece tonite)

I'm happy that this experiment seems to be working so far

I'm happy I have such good friends and family.

I'm concerned I have less patience than usual lately.

I got a free mattress and boxspring for my apartment, losing my craigslist cherry.

I also went through my house with my mom and discovered that her pack-rat tendencies are actually awesome...I don't have to buy very much stuff for my new place at all.

          What day's the big move?

Ha. My dad was a pack rat and my mom loved to throw away his old junk. Thus he would regularly check the trash cans to see if she'd tried to toss his playboys, his runners worlds from a decade ago that he swore he'd get around to one day, etc

I thought this would stop after he died (one of his last comments to me was a plea to save his dirty mag collection from its certain death)

          now the tables have shifted:

But no, when I go to so cal for the xmas holidays if I throw away something she thinks maybe should not have been thrown away - a cd, say - she'll bring it back in. So I have to take my trash and drive it elsewhere otherwise she'll be examining.

Fugitive, happy birthday. I'll buy you a beer or an iced or green tea - your choice.

Tyler, one thing I miss here is we used to do birthday articles. I guess we still could but what makes it more difficult is I stopped (at Calvin's insistence) publishing a list of upcoming birthdays. People voluntarily posted their date of birth and so we had a list of whose birthday was when. It was stopped for privacy reasons.

I'd love to bring it back even it means trusting one person - I'd volunteer - to keep track of that info offline and only post the info one week at a time. What I would so is announce once a week who had birthdays that week. I could even be persuaded to leave out the exact birth dates if that would serve as a compromise.

But I think things like that are community builders.

You need to rent the movie Serenity.  It's based off of Firefly.  Easily on my top ten list of favorite movies.

A couple weekends ago I spent ALL DAY trying to fix my dryer.  I finally did it.  I have a greater appreciation now for people that know how to fix machinery.  :-P

This. The possibility of anything like this ever happening again - a series cancelled after what, 12 episodes? - with a fanbase so rabid they force a major motion picture - is very very small.

It was even better than I expected, given that it had to attempt to wrap up what was obviously intended to be many more shows worth of storyline. I'm actually surprised it was canceled, given that I was never watching it then. I thought they only canceled stuff I liked if they figured out I was watching it.

The weather has been gorgeous out here in Utah. The fall colors (aspen, oak, etc.) are starting to change in the mountains. Took the dogs for walk up one of the canyons and it was awesome to watch them thoroughly enjoy themselves in their explorations and squirrel chasing.

Being up there also puts perspective back into the world. The trees being different colors don't care what color or type of tree is next to them. The gentle breeze carasses every blade of grass, flower, tree. It's not selective. The mountains could care less about the manical frenzy of the puny human species. They're ageless and have seen it all.

The fall colors (aspen, oak, etc.) are starting to change in the mountains.

Here in upstate NY too, it's my favorite time of year.

On Saturday I was cooking up some fried eggs before going in to work. I was cracking the eggs against the side of the stove and plopping the contents into the hot pan and the shells into the trash can beside the stove in one swoop. The swoop failed on one of the eggs and the raw egg missed the pan completely and slid into the burner pan, and then down the hole into the tray under the whole stove top. It was a mess, but I had to eat and get to work. I worked both jobs that day, so I was gone 12.5 hours. The mess didn't get cleaned in a timely manner.

On Saturday night I found that there were 3 flies that congregated in my bedroom. I don't know where they came from, but they bugged me to no end. It's hard to sleep when filthy flies are zooming around you. I didn't feel up to running around the room swatting at them. I don't have any hairspray to tangle their wings. I turned my bedside fan on them and that kept them away from my bed. In fact, the fan kept them in a small huddle, unable to exit the area without being blown far off course. I noticed that cornered flies flyin the exact same pattern over and over and over. That was boring, but at the flies weren't zooming around my head and now I could sleep.

On Sunday I got up and went to the restaurant job and ended up working an extra hour because we suddenly got swamped. Usually I work front of house for an hour and then spend the 2nd hour washing dishes and cookware. We were so busy that I had to spend 2 hours hostessing, setting tables, cashiering, and bussing tables, and replenishing stuff that ran out. The more customers we have, the more dirty dishes and the more dirty cookware there are. So when I got back to the dishroom after the rush, there was a full cook bench stacked high with dirty cookware and five carts of 3 bus-tubs each of dirty dishes. We had actually run out of clean silverware and water glasses. I had one hour to do all that. I got it done, but the cooks and waitstaff helped me a lot by putting away the clean dishes and cookware. We all congratulated and thanked each other on wonderful, successful teamwork. I got $7 in tips Sunday from the waitstaff. I got a tuna jacket for my free dinner there. I love tuna jackets, especially dressed up with ranch dressing and bacon bits.

I had to get groceries and toilet paper on the way home, so I didn't get home until about 4:30.
I took a nap and then was playing with the computer and did not remember until about 8:30 p.m. that I still had not cleaned up the egg mess. So, I cleaned up the mess and the whole kitchen and was done with that by 9 p.m.

I played Alchemy game on computer for a while and won a couple times. I went to bed and wrote some genealogy pages to send to my brother. I wrote 30 pages before putting that away to get some sleep.

Now I'm up. My kitchen is spiffy. It's sunny and pretty out. Looks like a nice day.

Another fun one is Mummy Maze. Yo gotta try that. It is very different. You have to stay away from the Mummy as he chases you thru a maze. Luckily he is not too bright. Just quick.

My weekend would probably be considered boring by most...

Most of Friday night I spent playing the new Armored Core game. A healthy chunk of the night went into making a spiffy paint job for my AC, Type-00. The entire body is dark blue, with black detailing, while the left shoulder armor is wrapped in a trio of parallel white stripes. These white stripes also wrap around the left Overboost array attached to the AC's back. The right shoulder has my simple [00] emblem, and the right forearm is wrapped in the triple stripes. The stripes also cross the left, right, and middle sections of the AC's core, as well as the tail binders. The stripes also adorn the outer armor of the legs. Once the paint job was finished, I selected my standard weapons loadout: An arm-mounted gatling gun with a handgun backup for my right arm, with a Moonlight blade for my left. A rail gun took my left shoulder spot, while a close-range cluster missile launcher took my right.

Heh, I suppose it's pointless in hiding my infatuation for the Armored Core series' love for customization. :P

The rest of the night and most of the weekend was spent finishing out the remaining storylines that I hadn't explored in the game yet.

                  it was this:

Man enters wrong apartment, mistakes kitchen floor for bathroom

MADISON —A 22-year-old Madison man who was trying to return to his Main Street apartment in a drunken stupor around 3 a.m. Saturday entered the wrong apartment in the same complex and urinated on the tenant’s kitchen floor, police said.

Responders found an individual matching the description of the suspect in the hallway and he appeared to be highly intoxicated, police said. Further investigation revealed that the suspect, Edward Kania, thought he was entering his own apartment, police said.

Kania was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing and criminal mischief. He was released pending a court appearance.

Yes,yes Scott...No politics, that fact only makes me smile........:). I had a quite, normal family weekend. Spoke to my mom and dad abroad. Told the children some historical facts between the Netherlands and America. Watched two movies ( you know where to find them). And now today I have my appointment with the spinal surgeon...Don't look forward to that but I hope they will tell me what my options are. Had some X rays and and a MRI made and they didn't look to good. It concerns my neck and shoulders.

Condolences, Henry. Back woes are all too familiar at my house. Last September I had a full MRI done on my neck and spine which revealed multiple herniations & deterioriated discs. I was waiting to be seen by an orthpedic surgeon - specialists are few & far between in the Ozarks.

In early November my family's vehicle was violently rear-ended by TWO vehicles. The impact sent me flying straight up into the roof, making my pre-existing injuries incredibly worse. Can you say "lawsuit"? Yeah. Big time.

Henry, be grateful you're not 7.75 months pregnant on top of it all. ;oD

                      Excellent Scott:

This week-end I went to the LA county fair, and this is what I saw. The incredible nine year old girl with crutches and the biggest smile in the winter wonderland building. Her dad not carrying her after she went on the slide, but rather held her two hands and help her walk out, what courage. The dumb SOB that saw a woman take a pretty bad fall and when his friends asked him to help her, he said, "I am off duty." He was a paramedic wearing a "we will not forget" t-shirt. WOW, what a chump. A the different types of people talking about everything and anything, just there to eat and have some fun. What a night to spend with my little girl!!!

Hey everybody - no politics sounds GREAT to me!

I had a nice weekend. Helped my kid with a school project building a model of the book "Ginger Pye" with a little scene inside. Lots lots of glue and colored paper.

My bro, SIL and nephews came over and helped me take all four dogs for a walk. The weather here has been GREAT. Highs in the 80's and sunny and beautiful!

Then on Sunday after a rocking church service my friend Lisa invited us over to watch a movie ("Rebound"...it was good!) and then I went out and did some training with my horse. Again - the weather was FANTASTIC and after many a 90 degree plus day it was great to be outside without feeling we were in a sauna.

MinnieApolis - that joke made me laugh!

Scott - thanks so much for having this idea!! I will totally join you on vowing to only seed fun stuff for awhile. In fact I think I'll delete any articles I might have hanging around on my column now that aren't in the spirit of fun...

Scoop, what an AWESOME idea! I am so sick of arguing with people!

This weekend I took a test to become a women's gymnastics judge (pretty sure I passed, will get results in 2-3 wks.)

I finally got around to catching up on my TiVo (didn't have time to watch much TV last week as I was studying for my test).

Watched the season premier of ER and bawled like a baby. Not just a couple of tears, but heaving sobs. It was SOOOOOOO sad. Did anybody else watch it?

I also spent some time playing the new Lego Batman game on the PS3. Love the Lego series, can't wait for another one. :-)

How do you prep for something like that? I heard referees in some sports watch video accelerated at 2x or 4x to ready their eyes. I imagine gymnastics is hard as heck to judge.

Study a book by memorizing deductions applicable to each skill. It is a lot of memorization, and you can watch routines and practice. Luckily for Compulsories, it is only a written exam. The next level up, it is both written and practical (judge routines from all events and make sure your score is within a certain predetermined range).

                        Compulsory is the beginning levels 4, 5 & 6.
Optionals is 7, 8, 9, 10 & Elite. (Elite is what you watch on TV during the Olympics, etc.)

I will test for 7 & 8 probably next year. You have to have so much time as a 7/8 judge before you can test for the next levels up and so on.

I'm just starting out, as I recently quit coaching due to health reasons. But I love the sport and want to remain involved, so this is the perfect option for me! :-)

Judging is very subjective. You have a lot of deductions that are an "up to" deduction, so you can take as little or as much as you feel warranted. There are some that are flat deductions, but for the most part it is up to the descretion of the judge. You just try to make sure the "premiere" routine wins, but that doesn't always happen. :-)

The hardest event to judge in my opinion is vault because it is so fast. It is literally over in about 2.5 seconds (lol). But a lot of the deductions can be determined by other factors, such as where they land, and how they land etc.

I have been around gymnastics for a very long time, so that does make it a little bit easier.

conservative voice, first, i'm sending you a friend request.

Second, I'd strongly urge you to write a memoir piece about this topic. I think  there are many who, like Tyler and I, are interested in how one becomes a judge and, of course, what it's like to actually be a judge.

Related question: when you watch olympic gymnastics are you a backseat judge, i.e. "you call that a 9?"

As for the memoir piece, I'll think about it. I guess I didn't realize how interesting a subject it was, probably because I've been around the sport so long, I take for granted it's uniqueness.

I haven't watch ER in ages. I was a MAJOR fan when it first came out but a couple of seasons into it I stopped watching. Sounds like I might need to start again. Are any of the old characters still on it?

                        Ladybug,

I have been watching ER since the beginning. The only time I remember crying like that was when Dr. Green (Anthony Edwards) died, and I didn't cry as hard as I did when I watched this years premier.

Noah Wyle is supposed to be back this year, but pretty much everyone else is gone, except Hellay(?), the nurse and Frank, the older guy at the desk. Maura Tierney's character Abby Lockhart is still there too, but she wasn't there from the beginning. But the season opener was VERY good. It's been awhile since I've watched something that made me react so emotionally. Guess I needed a good cry! :-) I would definitely recommend watching this year especially, since it is the last season. :-(

I don't think you want to get me started on the Olympics this year. (Yeah, I think China cheated)

                        Great Idea!

Friday Night: Made Buttermilk Deep Fried Chicken for the debate party I held at my house. Soundtrack included much Pubic Enemy, Isley Bros, Funkadelic/ Bootys Rubber Band. Total zany fun, plus the chicken was outrageously crunchy. Slaw, greens, hoppin john, yummy. Later on watched Gosford Park, wonderful study on the corpulent and queer relationships between the latent aristocracy in the UK and their servants/ lovers/ ah giving too much away, a wonderful movie.

Saturday: My lady and I slept all day, I watched the University of Michigan game, bit of the Big Ten Football fan, I have deep family connects to the U o' M. Watched Real Madrid vs Real Betis, plus pieces of Barca vs Espanyol. Then went out to Home Depot and got a 12'*5" piece of white painted masonite to help my girl with her food photo-studio, white balance color problems abound. Did some homeworky reading/ Chinese practice. Ate leftover chickens and made up some simple chicken soup drank some Bass Ales and played video games the rest of the night into the early morn'.

Sunday: got up to make buttermilk pancakes, as per requests, helped clean the flat. Ended up chillen out watching the AC Milan game vs Inter, which was quite a nice one there Ronnie getting his 1st beauty goal. Checked the fantasy football team, stretched out. Around 5 went out to my friends to meet up with folks to go play some high quality pick up soccer. I had managed a team over the summer in a highly competitive Pro-Am league, also a board member, in the previous year one of the players hipped us to this great group of people that play great games and allow for their kids to get involved. Which I think is totally brilliant, and gets the kids toughened up for certain, I'd say that most of the chillins are now playing vastly beyond their age groups in the AYSO or travel leagues. I ran about 8 km, scored off a great post rebound, and had two assists, all from playing Right Back which I took care of quite nicely. Did I mention that I love to run? Final score 5-2...Got home and sought out some eats, ended up with fast food value meal extravaganza. Settled into the Simpsons and then Mad Men, a great show Im sure everyone's read the reviews etc, sort of a cliffhanger. All in all a fine piece of weekendiness, not much done but at the same time much was done.
Black Ark in Dub on Trojan would have been a good soundtrack, albeit my lady love doesnt really absolutely love dub reggae.

I wrote some on the Vine. I took my grandsons and went bike riding. Of course they picked the route with the steep hill. So many thoughts went through my head as I flew down that hill. "I forgot how much fun this could be!" "I must be crazy, what if I fall and break a few things" "Check the boys, what if they fall?" "Okay we're all down safe and sound but how in the world will I make it back up that hill?"

I had a good weekend. Friday I watched the, um, thing with people talking about the topics we're not talking about here.

Saturday I took out to lunch the guy I went to Jamaica with. And vined much of the day. Saturday nite I went to Tractor Gras (think Mardi Gras only with tractors)

Sunday i went to church for a few hours, wrote a satire piece, vined for a few hours.

This is about the sixth year of Tractor Gras. It's organized and hosted by a friend who is a music teacher and a blues/jazz musician. He's from New Orleans. So for Tractor Gras they get donuts, alcohol, the appropraite food, and lots of the beaded necklaces.

Then when the tractor parade goes in front of his house we throw beads at the participants and they throw candy back. You haven't lived until you see couples in their 70s get so thrilled to get beads. And no, there is no flashing involved except police sirens and those are at the FRONT of the parade.

                        It is a total blast.

Took a three day weekend. Left on the scooter Thursday morning, weather was great but evenings a little cool. Scammed a couch each nite so didn't get back till Sunday afternoon. Didn't get any great distances covered but toodled around and got some nice albiet quick visits with a lot of friends. Stopped at a local performance shop, booked some time and made some impulse purchases. (the best kind) I now work another month straight so it's unlikely I'll get another real ride in. Oh well. Hockey season is upon us.
Threw a small pork roast in the slow cooker with the veggies and me and the girls had a late supper. Played a little X-Box with them, it amazes me how quickly they catch on to new games. Popped on the puter for a bit, read some of those unmentionable seeds and posts and had a restful night. Great idea this is for a change.
To one and all have a great fall season.

Another joke, this one from ArcaMax -----

A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, "Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face."

                        "Yes," the class said.

"Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?"

A little fellow shouted, "Cause your feet ain't empty."

                        pah rum pum

                        What's wrong with lawyer jokes?

                        Lawyers don't think they're funny.

and nobody else thinks they're a joke.
