Summary
In June, the Obama campaign released a digitally scanned image of his birth certificate to quell speculative charges that he might not be a natural-born citizen. But the image prompted more blog-based skepticism about the document's authenticity. And recently, author Jerome Corsi, whose book attacks Obama, said in a TV interview that the birth certificate the campaign has is "fake."

We beg to differ. FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a raised seal or a signature are false. We have posted high-resolution photographs of the document as "supporting documents" to this article. Our conclusion: Obama was born in the U.S.A. just as he has always said.

Since when has Jerome Corsi ever let the truth get in his way?

The GOP has never let the truth get in the way of gutter politics. The McCain campaign and its surrogates are relentlessly repeating of lies and smears about Barack Obama. It's a not new tactic. The GOP has learned from the best.

So glad to see that there are facts now to prove to these crazies that Obama was born an American citizen. So sad to know it was needed.

It's not just Corsi, though. I've seen even viners i respect raise this as if it's a valid issue.

The phrase grasping at straws comes to mind

FWIW I set up this article as an index to rebut crazy allegations like this.

You have got to be kidding - Annenberg has been around for decades before Obama was ever mentioned as a presidential candidate.

And you better not be a spammer but I'm about to check your column.

a troll in newsvine? no way!

next you're going to tell me that some people leave here and return under different names.

I'm still thinking one of us should do a meta story where we list who was/is who, why they got booted, who they returned as, etc

thanks for the headsup. we need to add a report-a-troll button.

Don't see why things got to the point that anyone would say otherwise. McCain is the one who was born outside of the US.

Suit filed 08/21/08, No. 08-cv-4083
Contact information at the end of this press release. Documents filed with the court and a copy of this press release can be downloaded at the end of this press release.
(Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania – 08/21/08) - Philip J. Berg, Esquire, [Berg is a former Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania; former candidate for Governor and U.S. Senate in Democratic Primaries; former Chair of the Democratic Party in Montgomery County; former member of Democratic State Committee; an attorney with offices in Montgomery County, PA and an active practice in Philadelphia, PA, filed a lawsuit in Federal Court today, Berg vs. Obama, Civil Action No. 08-cv-4083, seeking a Declaratory Judgment and an Injunction that Obama does not meet the qualifications to be President of the United States. Berg filed this suit for the best interests of the Democratic Party and the citizens of the United States. Philip J. Berg, Esquire stated in his lawsuit that Senator Obama:
1. Is not a naturalized citizen; and/or
2. Lost his citizenship when he was adopted in Indonesia; and/or
3. Has dual loyalties because of his citizenship with Kenya and Indonesia.
Berg stated: "I filed this action at this time to avoid the obvious problems that will occur when the Republican Party raises these issues after Obama is nominated.
There have been numerous questions raised about Obama's background with no satisfactory answers. The questions that I have addressed include, but are not limited to:
1. Where was Obama born? Hawaii; an island off of Hawaii; Kenya; Canada; or ?
2. Was he a citizen of Kenya, Indonesia and/or Canada?
3. What was the early childhood of Obama in Hawaii; in Kenya; in Indonesia when he was adopted; and later, back to Hawaii?
4. An explanation as to the various names utilized by Obama that include: Barack Hussein Obama; Barry Soetoro; Barry Obama; Barack Dunham; and Barry Dunham.
5. Illinois Bar Application – Obama fails to acknowledge use of names other than Barack Hussein Obama, a blatant lie.
If Obama can prove U.S. citizenship, we still have the issue of muti-citizenship with responsibilities owed to and allegance to other countries.

Is this a real lawsuit? I don't know what to make of this?? I also heard the the Reburbs want to file a lawsuit after the Democratic convention. ...Again, I don't know what to believe, but some of it is questionable.

This is sad. This is the best McSame and the former Keating crew can do. They are running a strange campaign.

Isn't Berg the guy that keeps filing lawsuits against Bush and Cheney. They keep getting thrown out, cause there is no valid basis (supporting facts) to his complaints.

No doubt he has filed this lawsuit and it will be quite the talk on the internet for a couple of weeks and then it will get thrown out as well. AFTER the publicity has reached the intended audience.

There's a legal term "abuse of service". The point of it is to penalize people who constantly file unsubstantiated lawsuits. I wonder why nobody is ever charged with this.

Actually, you should Google a guy named Anthony R. Martin-Trigona who also goes by "Andy Martin."

First, be prepared for reading one of the most shocking and disgusting cases of megalomania, pathological lying, and hatred you have ever seen. Andy Martin is simply insane.

But the point I'm making about Martin-Trigona is that he has been made persona non grata in any number of states due to his abuse of the courts. By all rights, he should be jailed. Evidently, he's a slumlord in Chicago who has a fixation of hate for Barack Obama.

You can trace any number of smears on Obama back to Martin-Trigona. Really a disturbed guy.

Tin Foil hats are so outdated, I prefer the lead lined baseball cap. The residual radon emissions from the lead help me to tune into specific propaganda.

    Okay...

  • gator-atv. 11 y/o, on gator, trespassing via cutting down portion of boundary fence.
    11 y/o wrecking gator-atv
  • 11 y/o injured 11 y/o's insurance company files lawsuit against property owner (Newsvine handle-TBD) and property owner's insurance company. Cause, no signage warning of trespassing, or of potential danger and attractiveness to children, etc.
  • Property owner and property owner's insurance settle. Property owner's liability insurance premiums increased.
  • Property owner places signage, warning no trespassing. Also, signs indicating gators and atv's will be shot when trespassing. Sheriff requests latter to be taken down, immediately (request.. maybe not an accurate description). Property owner complies.
  • Property owner buys himself a gator. Acquaintance states..."I thought you hated gators". Property owner shortly thereafter joins Newsvine and needs a handle.
  • Are you still awake??
If you are one of those that think it is the UF Gators... well, they are not that signficant either way. As for alligators..... it would amaze you how fast a guy my age can move AND keep moving as each tendon, ligament, hamstring, etc. tears and pops.. Although it has been about 20 years, since that happened.
