excerpt:"On Saturday, Monsters HD on Dish Network unveils a movie marathon that might have seemed at home in the 1950s on the screen of a black-and-white TV. If, that is, movies such as "Evil Dead" and "Bubba Ho-Tep" could have been aired in those days.
The common factor in these films, of course, is Bruce Campbell, an Oregonian who also is on "Burn Notice," the USA Network original series currently airing repeats of its first season.
Recently, Campbell irected and starred in "My Name Is Bruce," a parody of both the actor and his overzealous admirers. The film debuted at the 2007 Ashland Independent Film Festival, and Campbell has continued to tweak it in anticipation of a wide release this year.
Bruce has been in some of my favorite programs, the Evil Dead movies, the Brisco County series and now the Burn notice series.
His memoir, Leading With My Chin, is also a fun read. Any other Bruce fans?
Hail to the King, baby.
Heh. Exactly. He's the greatest.
Sometimes when I argue with my wife about something, and everything is cool after, I'll tell her: "First you want to kill me, then you want to kiss me. Blow." I never tire of seeing him in action.
Duke Henry: I am Henry the Red. Duke of Shale, Lord of the Northlands and leader of its peoples. Ash: Well hello Mister Fancypants. Well, I've got news for you pal, you ain't leadin' but two things: Jack and @!$%#... and Jack just left town.
Gimme some sugar, baby.
Shop smart. Shop S-Mart!
I've been a Bruce Campell fan since seeing the Evil Dead series as a kid. Even the extremely silly "Jack of All Trades"....which was stupid as can be...but somehow hilarious. One of the funniest things I've seen him in was the first Spider man game though. Doing the voiceover for the the training levels...FUNNY FUNNY STUFF.
Don't forget his run on Xena as Autolycus, and the Evil Dead video games. The list goes on and on. Bruce has definitely been a hero since I saw Evil Dead on opening night, even though the best lines came later in the series. "Good, bad, I'm the one with the gun."
I'm a big fan too. He has this knack for saying things in a way that makes them funny. Give somebody else the same line, and somehow it just wouldn't be as amusing.
...and he's hungry like the wolf.
When that ad started airing, I was in the floor laughing.
When you have it, you don't need it.
When you need it you don't have it.
If you have it, you need more of it.
If you have more of it, you don't need less of it.
You need it, to get it.
And you certainly need it to get more of it.
But if you already have it to begin with, you can't get any of it to get started, which means you really
don't have any idea how to get it in the first place. Do you?
You can share it, sure.
You can even stockpile it if you'd like.
But you can't fake it.
Wanting it….
Needing it…
Wishing for it…
The point is, if you have never had any of it….
Ever….
People just seem to know.
Wieden+Kennedy have just sold me some Old Spice body spray and I'm not even sure what body spray is supposed to do... Check out the nautical picture in the background. This is comedy genius. I guess Old Spice body spray will make me smell funny...
Groovy.
Have you seen Bubba Hotep? I've heard rumors of a sequel (or prequel) and I really hope they are true.
Bubba Hotep is the best!
I was underwhelmed by Bubba Hotep but really did enjoy his book. Some memoirs are boring but his stories about making the Evil Dead movies were hilarious.
