Usually after a rare weekend or – in this case – a vacation break from Newsvine I scramble around for a bit
to catch up.
Then one time Lauhal did something I considered brilliant: She just posted an article saying she was off-line for a while and asked people to share what interesting things they missed and what she should be sure to check out to catch up.
People provided her with comments, links, etc.
So now I'm stealing that idea. And to return the favor I'm going to try, starting next week, to resume my Newsvine Picks column where I steer people – with links – to the five to ten best things I read on Newsvine that week, paying particular attention to some of those writers less well known, i.e.those not on the leaderboard.
(Speaking of which I set up this article to give everyone a chance to promote their five most favorite articles they have written while at Newsvine.)
So…. I've been offline since Thanksgiving morning. Even if I had wanted to check Newsvine while visiting relatives in Michigan I couldn't because I had no access to the Internet.
I just got home five minutes ago and I'm exhausted. I'll start reading and catching up in the morning.
So… what did I miss? What was the best thing you read at Newsvine in the last week? Anyone new get banned? Anyone new come back under a new name? Did anyone NOT eat too much?
As for me I caught up with aunts and uncles, saw for the first time the cemetery and tombstones where my dad's dad and dad's mom were buried (and heard the story about how grandpa was buried in the wrong grave), learned how to play cribbage, manipulation and another game I don't know how to spell (Uecker? Yuker?) I spent a lot of time doing nothing and that was great.
