I lit two candles today at church. During Unitarian Univesralist services a key ritual - my favorite ritual of the religion - is the lighting of candles for joys and concerns. When I do education work we change it to "things you are happy or sad about this week" and use pillows instead of real flames.
Anyway I lit two candles: One candle of joy that I have both a full-time with benefits that I really like (so far) AND that it meeans I can resume doing religious education at the church.\
I told the religious education director I'm a free agent and I can teach whatever grade she needs. The two with the most interest from me (and the biggest needs) is a kindergaraden-first grade class with a pirate theme. We will visit the seven continents while also exploring the religion's seven principals.
The second grade group is focused on Dr. Seuss books. I LOVE Dr. Seuss. Either one will be great.
The church, especially RE, is an important part of my life that I had to give up for almost one year while working weekends with my other job.
Anyway the other candle is concern about Uncle Ernie. I asked people to keep him in their thoughts.
I wrote about Ernie over here.
Incidentally I talked here about how I found my way into the UU religion.
