Those howls you hear are coming from both the dog and human communities following major miss communications that resulted in Snoopy (whose name inspired the rapper Snoop Doggy Dog) being confused for each other during marketing and promotion for a Thanksgiving event.

You know that old saying, "Beware the ides of March?" Screw that, for us turkeys it should be called "Beware the holidays for you may BECOME the holiday meal." Happy holidays, my skinny turkey ass! What's that look for? Because i'm a profane talking turkey? What, you think we don …

I am Albert and I was walking in the pen one day when the members of my age group were being rounded up by the young boy who fed and watered the flock. I looked around, thinking well we already ate today and the water tray is full so what is that boy up to.

Brrrr, I'm freezing! Not only is it cold but I don't have a coat or a blanket and neither do any of the others. We're just laying here while people look us over. Some of the people pick one of us up, look at us, turning us around and read the words written on the cover.

This is my entry for this Scott Butki Challenge. "RITA!" I yelled. Yet, I knew Rita could not hear me. Only other plants can hear a rose screaming, but I had to try.

This is a fascinating book and one I'd encourage all thinking people to read. Heck, even better try to get the non-thinking people you know to read this because it might snap some of them out of their denialism before they go to their next Obama birthers meeting.

Your mission - write about what it would be like to be a turkey. Perhaps you hear from the other turkeys about the terrible turkey travesty that occurs each Thanksgiving ("they stuff things into you and most uncomfortable ways" they wail).

A reminder of the rules of this exercise The rules here are pretty basic: I, or someone else, picks the topic. You write about it for 10 minutes and then must stop. The time must be spent writing, not editing.

For each edition of this ongoing series my goal is to spotlight the best articles I've read in the last month or so. Seeds are great but I, for one, much prefer reading original writing. This is a way to give back to the newsvine community, the one I'm addicted to.

You will laugh (I hope) when you read what my 'horoscope' said today....
"If you have always felt the desire to do something as a writer, dear Taurus, now is the time to take the plunge. You certainly don't lack the imagination! The problem you have may be that you have more difficulties taking your prose seriously. Don't think so seriously about being a writer with a capital "W." Just write! And above all, don't hesitate to let people read what you write. A writer's group would be a great way for you to come out of hiding."
Sometimes they are 'timely' aren't they?....
Thank you for all your hard work promoting writing and writers on the vine...

This Year in History: Santa Cruz Ca. reveals its attitude towards the Homeless. KSBW's Dan Green spent 3 nights covering the execution style murder of a dog beloning to the owner of Ben Lomond's Hennfligs Bar. KSBW chose not to report on the brutal beating death of a local homeless girl called Mikala. The Sheriffs dept. responding to a homeowners complaint that "someone had been pouning on her door begging to be let in because she was killing her" arrived 30 minutes later to find Mikala's beaten body on the lawn. Her memorial service (closed casket to spare family and friends the sight of her mangled features) was covered on page three of th Sentinel and include a story about her life in foster homes, her drug problems and her police record. When asked why KSBW had not covered the murder inspite of calls from her friends and family the news desk replied "They had not been notified by the Santa Cruz Police Dept.". There are still posters posted offering a $6000 dollar reward for the arrestt and conviction of the person or persons responsible for murdering the dog. There is no active case on Mikayla's murder
